Air Hogs RC Micro Hovercraft Running On Water & Other Tests

Written by admin on June 22, 2009 – 2:15 pm -

How-to and mini demo of the Air Hogs Micro Hovercraft being run on water. Plus, a few further tests that I hadn’t thought of when I shot the previous Micro Hovercraft video.

It’s been in question whether the Micro Hovercraft could run on water. Knowing that it wasn’t designed to be able to run on water, I wouldn’t originally have thought about trying it.

Credit for the idea actually goes to YouTube member cojicoji1026 and his/her video “HOVER Q p l a y o n w a t e r !” which you can view here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=va99sOgv4OQ

It’s too bad the Micro Hovercraft wasn’t designed to be used on water also, because it’s lots of fun to play with on water and actual functions better than on land. Using the tape to cover the charging tabs does make it usable on water, but it’s a bit of a hassle to do for just a couple minutes of run time. Afterward you have to remove the tape, let it charge for another 40 minutes, then apply more tape if you want to run it on water again.

Fun With Air Hogs RC Micro Hovercraft

Written by admin on June 22, 2009 – 2:15 pm -

What: Mini video review and demo of the Spin Master Air Hogs RC Micro Hovercraft. This is the US version of the Tomy Hover-Q. Available at Toys R Us and Target stores for $29.99.

Comments: I’m giving this a 2 out of 5 rating. It’s fun for a short while, literally. The 40 minute charge time and around 2 minute running time is a bit of a turn off. 2 minutes isn’t much time to enjoy it, and 40 minutes is just too long to wait. It only really runs well on super smooth, flat surfaces. It can go pretty fast, but doesn’t steer very well and hard to get it go straight, even after adjusting the steering trim. It’s a neat little gimmick though, a micro hovercraft. But, that it’s limited to its terrain and runs for just a couple minutes, it’s only fun for so long.

Fun With Micro Terrain Titans RC Pro Buggy #1 (Q-Steer Micro Buggy Hotshot)

Written by admin on May 5, 2009 – 12:01 pm -

What: Mini video review and demo of the Spin Master Micro Terrain Titans Pro Buggy #1, the US version of the Tomy Q-Steer Micro Buggy Hotshot. Available at Toys R Us and Target stores for $14.99.

Comments: I’d give this a 4 out of 5 rating. It’s tons of fun for a micro RC toy. I like that the the Terrain Titans are styled after vintage Tamiya RCs. It’s really speedy, and the selectable normal and turbo speed is nice. Working front and rear suspension on a micro is pretty impressive. The only reason I don’t give this a 5 is it would be better with proportional steering and maybe just a little more power.

A micro RC car with custom body containing a solar array. This car goes and goes in the sun. Never needs recharging! It contains a micro capacitor in place of the battery that gets it through shady spots. High current surplus NASA solar cells provide twice the power output of the original battery. Cool fun in the hot sun!

Intermediate outdoor RC heli?

Written by admin on April 6, 2009 – 1:05 pm -

I have had three rc helicopters. a crappy china made 2ch as my first. a 3ch mosquito. and my current one. 4ch Blade MCX coaxial micro. They have all been great but I want something more. First of all i want to fly it outdoors, but i dont think that i am experienced enough to fly a 4ch heli that isn't co axil. I want something sort of big but not too expencive. around 100$ i was looking at the Esky Dauphin but can it go fast outdoors. 4ch only and i would prefer it to be sold at Xheli(dot)com but it doesnt have to be. Thanks all. i know its a dumb question but i am bored with my micro sized rc's and want something bigger. (if its not coaxil is a Falcon 40 a good choice?) Im 13 almost 14 on may 11th if it helps!

aww poo, take my advice for it man. There are many helicopter that are affordable, but not really near $100… Youll have to boost it up to about $200… The E-Flite and Heli-Max is a good area too look at. Pretty popular and well known and their customer support is decent.

I would suggest you check out the Heli-Max Axe CP cause they run at about $170-$200.

The E-Flite Blade CP runs at about $180-$250.
The Blade CP Pro 2 is the newest and best helicopter, I would suggest getting that. It ahs a 2.4 GHz radio, so it prevents interference and crashes. Fully acrobatic, and could be flown outdoors. Same with the others i've mentioned too. Let me show you a few links here…
