How does RC Cars & Trucks from hobby shops that cost $150+ compare to ones u find in radio shack for around$65

Radio shack uses lesser quality and simplistic technology to get the job done. I've baught lots of radio shack boats and cars and converted them with good electronics. After taking them apart I've found that almost all tend to use one large circut board for functions to cut down on cost. In doing this a hobby person is unable to use other transmitters, different motors and batteries, and swapping things like servo's.

Also while the plastic used is bigger beefier and bulky for looks and taking a beating. It produces a ton of excess weight that is not needed bogging the rc down which prevents it from going faster etc.

In the end your paying more for individual name brand electronics from the hobby shop which for many hobbiest they couldn't live without. The kits for cars and trucks cost more because they have all option parts and nearly everything on the vehicle can be replaced should need be.

For anyone looking to persue the "hobby" I would pay the 150 at a hobby shop, for those just looking for a "toy" I'd go to radio shack.

P.S. only most radio shack boats can be modified with your own electronics (ecept for X-Mods)

What RC (radio control) magazines do you recommend?

Great interest in playing RC cars/trucks. Apart from buying a RC truck soon, I am thinking about increasing some "knowledge". What RC magazines do you recommend? I heard RC car action is great. What about R/C cars?

Both are good. Also go here it's free and it's all RC and very up to date and cool stuff have fun

how do I find nutral in my nitro RC truck ??

the slow idle needle rattled loose on my rc truck. now when I try to start it after reattaching the needle I can't get the truck to go into nutral. I've adjusted the trim several times with no results. Is nutral an actual state the transmission has to be put in or do I have to make it idle at a certain speed to find it ??? please help.

rc cars have no transmissions, they use clutches. your engine needs to be at a certain speed or RPM for the clutch bell to engage and spin. if your engine is running and its running stable but your car does not move it means you may need a new clutch assembly or check your drive train such as drive shafts or drive belts/chains.
