If it's nitro,no you can not use gasoline,if it's a small chain saw type, you need to mix it.My T-MAXX 3.3 Traxxas runs about 20min depending on how i adjust the top end needle. The more rich it runs by turning the top end needle out,the more fuel it will burn.It all depends on the altitude and the Temperature out side for adjusting. If it's cold out,run it rich,if it's hot out run it lean.I know it's a.s.s backwards but that's the way they run properly.I been racing for yrs, feel free too mail me if you need more assistance.
References :
There are two different types of fuel powered RC's, most RC's are powered by nitro, these are the cars and trucks in the 1/10 and 1/8 scales, there are a few cars that run off regular gasoline but they are generally 1/6 scale and costs well over a $1,000

The type of RC that your looking at is most definitely a nitro power vehicle, they will run for about 10 minutes on 1 tank of fuel, however you can refuel while the engine is running so you can drive all day without ever stopping. Fuel costs about $20-$30 a gallon and a gallon of nitro fuel should last you 4-6 or more hours worth of driving depending on vehicle and engine.

I have been an RC enthusiast for 20 years and have had pretty much every type of RC, I highly recommend going to a hobby shop and talking to them before buying. Nitro powered RC's are more complicated and expensive then electric. With todays new batteries and motors and electric car can be faster than a nitro and can have run times as long as 30 minutes per battery pack.

Also, keep in mind that the initial $300 will just cover the car costs, you need tools, batteries, fuel, fuel bottle and other running gear, also figure at least $100 a month for replacement parts.

Radio control cars are a great hobby, there is a very steep learning curve and a high costs for the fun. I don't want to rain on your parade just want you to know what your getting into.
References :
A great way to get into the hobby is the RC/10GT RTR truck, it is fast, has a great price, is very popular and can be competitively raced.

If you want a bigger 4x4 truck I would recommend getting the Traxxas Revo RTR truck as a first time nitro RC, they are great trucks, are fast, can be upgraded to race and are popular, so parts are easy to come by. I have 3 of them.

What were you looking to get for $300, what car and who makes it and where did you see it, let me know and I will tell you if it is a good deal.
