DOGS Airshow 2008 (Giant Scale Radio Control Airplanes) Normally when you say something is going to the dogs it means that things aren’t good. But in Dayton, Ohio on Labor Day weekend going to the DOGS means some of the best RC flying around. The Half Time Shows were really interesting in that the DOGS did a good job of highlighting almost all aspects of the hobby including 3D, Precision Aerobatics, Warbirds, Turbines, Helicopters, Racers, and even small electric Foamies were represented. One thing that I did notice was that the show changed a little bit each day. The DOGS would add elements to the show as different pilots would arrive to the show. One of the more interesting aspects of the show to me was the Warbirds fly. After a while, both the SHO and I adapted well in regards to handling in the air. Team Losi 8ight RTR 1/8 Scale 4WD radio control Buggy

Airing an 1/8 scale buggy out over the jumps is far from the only important factor in its abilities. How it transitions through the turns and rough areas of the track play a role as well. The track’s surface was somewhat blown out, given the fact that the last race was a few months ago and there hadn’t been any surface preparation since that time. A few hard rains had created some ruts in places as well, which wouldn’t have been there under race conditions. However they worked well for testing out the buggies stability on less than ideal terrain. The oversized shocks were given a healthy workout by the conditions I encountered, but the out of the box suspension seemed to favor the buggy well. None of the ruts or blown out areas seemed to upset the buggy as it ran through a section of the track, and the suspension still seemed firm enough to land the buggy with satisfactory dampening.
